I have lived on the Alabama Gulf Coast since 1992. I am a Coastal native of sorts as I was raised on the Mississippi and Louisiana Coasts as a child. As an adult, I meandered between several Southern states but ended up here on the Alabama Gulf Coast. I consider this my forever home.
What is so special that I call this my forever home? A lot.
To start with, the canvases that are painted for my viewing every morning and every evening are second to none. The most exquisite coastal landscape views are provided for me every day, morning, noon, and night. From Sunset to Sunrise, I see the most majestic views every day. Rain or shine, just amazing visual gifts every day, leaving no doubt in my mind of a power greater than myself. These picturesque views, along with some of the most beautiful white sandy beaches, make this one of the most fabulous places to live. I have heard it said before, once you get your toes in the sand, you have left a piece of yourself with us, always trying to find a way to join us here in our Small Town Big Beach Community.
In addition, you will find the most delicious cuisine! Whether you are looking for a casual or elegant dining experience, our Gulf Coast provides it all. Delectable seafood creations, appetizing eclectic local creations, juicy steaks cooked to perfection, a more simple low country boil, oysters on the half shell, or a downright greasy cheeseburger, there is something for everyone here in this regard.
And recreation galore! Music of all kinds, sport fishing tournaments, recreational fishing, SEC Sports attractions, spectacularly manicured golf courses, tennis, bike trails, and then there is the main attraction. Sunshine and White Sandy Beaches.
Also, our community. Our Small Town Big Beach community is second to none. Everyone knows everyone and does their best to lend a hand. Services are our community, as we are a resort town that’s business is serving others. There are many avenues available to earn a living, and the best part is that we live on Island Time. Getting anywhere takes a maximum of 15 minutes. When we dress up, we put on our High Heel flip-flops!
